The RESOLUTE Building Company is dedicated to Green Building construction principles. Green or sustainable building is the practice of creating healthier and more resource-efficient models of construction, renovation, operation, maintenance, and demolition. Research and experience increasingly demonstrate that when buildings are designed and operated with their lifecycle impacts in mind, they can provide great environmental, economic, and social benefits. RESOLUTE has had the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to Green Building construction by incorporating these practices into our processes. We are active members of the United States Green Building Council, and participate in ongoing AGC training for LEED green building and design. Two following RESOLUTE-built projects contain samples of Green Building principles: East 54 Mixed Use Project, LEED Silver Certification, Chapel Hill, North Carolina (active project):
UNC Wellness Center Project, Chapel Hill, North Carolina (completed project): The UNC Wellness Center is winner of the Triangle Business Journal’s Edge Award for the Project that Contributes Most to an Improved Quality of Life in the Triangle. Preservation of the natural environment during the construction and design of this 52,000 square foot facility was achieved through efficient siting and containment of natural areas to minimize disturbances during construction. The site, part of the Meadowmont community master plan, utilizes bio-retention basins which filter storm-water runoff prior to being released to water quality ponds in the Meadowmont Community. Runoff from impervious road and sidewalk surfaces is not impeded by curbs and gutters. The abundance of residences in Meadowmont resulted in a reduction in the number of parking spaces required, since many visitors walk, jog, or bike to the Center. Finally, as construction was being completed during the drought of 2002, the pool was filled with water trucked in directly from Falls Lake, which reduced the impact on the local water supply. click here to read more about East 54 Mixed Use Project
